The Class Assignment
To create a poster for a lecture on the architecture of the Seattle Public Library. The lecture is based on the architect, Koolhass, and contemporary architecture trends with libraries around the world.
I decided to incorporate elements from the actual structure into the poster. Taking photographs, I constructed a collage of parts of the building creating a K for Koolhaas. I overlaid them with striking colors to make the poster stand out on a bulletin board from other lectures or events.
To create a poster advertising a panel discussion with famous poster artists in the Seattle region about poster art.
I started by hand printing from the surface of a wood block with a single color to create a wood texture for the background, scanned it, then completed the rest of the poster in InDesign. I chose to use both traditional and computer techniques as a tribute to the history of poster art.
